Contains much that is apocryphal, or at least wildly innacurate...

Oz - Yeah, that's what I keep telling myself. The days of a single career spanning an entire working life are gone, and I'm not condemned to stick with my first (potentially bad) choice. Plenty of time yet, right?!

WhimsyChick - I do wonder if I lived my time again whether I would still study a science at uni. History was a route I considered, and perhaps now I'd even by tempted by English Literature. One of many options currently under consideration is to write about science, perhaps in the media or even popular science books. How to get there is tricky, but I'm thinking that a PhD might not be a bad start. A doctorate can only lend my ramblings greater legitimacy. Right now I need to ensure I get decent final grades, to keep my options open.

Yeah, same boat here. Medicine, graphic design, elementary ed, art, computer science, art, secondary ed, art. Now I'm a stay at home mom, working on the self-employed artist thing, and somewhere deep down hoping to find myself walking the red carpet someday.

Do what you want to do. I've met too many former mathematicians who waited until retirement to dabble in art, and they always regretted waiting so long.

Yeah, good luck with all that LOL. I guess I have to say that most career paths are like your college journey. You start out one place and then eventually realize you want to be somewhere, move in that direciton, and then end up somewhere completely different from either of those places. For instance, I got a 2 year degree in criminal justice, and now I'm a fulltime mom and occassional photographer. Of course, I have a feeling that criminal justice stuff will come in handy, if not in my second mentioned vocation, certainly my first. ;)

In other words, don't sweat it. Whatever you decide now is not the final word on the rest of your life, no matter what people try to tell you.
